Stuffed Grape Leaves with Meat: A Delectable Dish
Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 1 cup Egyptian rice, washed
- 250 grams ground meat (beef or lamb, as preferred)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon mixed spices
For Wrapping:
- Grape leaves, stuffed (available in stores or prepared by blanching grape leaves in boiling water for a few minutes)
- Lemon juice
- Olive oil
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil and add the chopped onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until fully browned and no longer pink.
- Add the washed and drained rice to the cooked meat, and stir well.
- Add the chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and mixed spices. Continue cooking and stirring for an additional minute.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool slightly.
- Place the grape leaves on a work surface and place a small amount of filling at the bottom of each leaf.
- Fold the bottom part of the grape leaf over the filling, then fold the sides inward, and continue rolling the leaf tightly.
- Place the stuffed grape leaves in the bottom of a cooking pot, then layer more leaves on top in a circular pattern.
- Pour lemon juice over the stuffed grape leaves in the pot, then cover them with water until fully submerged.
- Place the pot over low heat and bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 45-60 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
- Serve the stuffed grape leaves with meat hot, drizzled with a little lemon juice and a sprinkle of olive oil. Enjoy the delightful and nutritious flavors of this savory dish!
